We have recently launched a new service status page for the Rhine Valley IX. From now on, all disruptions, impairments and planned maintenance work will be listed on the page. With this new offer we hope to continuously improve the service quality and attractiveness of our Internet Exchange for our participants. We would like to welcome our newest participant the RIPE NCC (AS25152) to the Rheintal IX! From now on, the RIPE NCC operates its own K-DNS root server (ns1.at-fkt.k.ripe.net) directly in the Rhine Valley IX peering LAN, which drastically reduces the response times of queries to the DNS root zone for our peering participants. The hardware required by RIPE was set up at the Rheintal IX site in Feldkirch, for which we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved and our supporters! Last week, our IXP Manager at Rheintal IX was upgraded to the latest version and our Route Servers have been migrated to bird2. After the test operation in the last weeks, the Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) extension was successfully rolled out and activated on our route servers in the course of the upgrade. Since the changeover, all announcements made by peering participants to our route servers are no longer checked for their existence exclusively via the IRR databases (RIPE, ARIN, RADB, etc.), but are now also validated for the legitimacy of the announced origin AS using RPKI Route Origin…
